With the Arc of Northeast Mississippi being one of the nations chapters that follows the Arc’s mission actively working to make life more inclusive , I would like to share some wonderful opportunities our chapter has provided members with because of the overwhelming generosity of our community. Our volunteer based networking chapter that partners with other like organizations. We use volunteering as a skills training platform for the basic skills needed to live inclusively in the community.

Our Arc in the Park is a disability awareness event which has evolved into one of the largest community disability outreaches in our area with an average of 300 participants. Our Angel volunteer program delivered and set up over 70 lift chairs for individuals with a disability as a Christmas project. In another project we dispersed over 300 cases of hand sanitizer and hand soap during the pandemic. We have assembled disaster relief bags for the Red Cross and made Cookies for our first responders. We also support our community partners on occasion. We have training workshops and provide ongoing support for members and their families. This is a brief highlight of our chapter and how our Angel volunteer program helps our members and our community, there is much more that we would like to do!

Another program recently started is the Autism Now group. We encourage leadership roles for members and offer the tools they need to succeed. Cassidy is a young woman with Autism herself that offered to take on this challenge and has really excelled in her leadership role. When we first met Cassidy she was very unsure of herself, today she is in the community networking as a confident professional. Cassidy has very good leadership skills and all she needed was an opportunity she found with the Arc. She has excelled as the president of our Autism Now division, and has started new programs. She is excited about her new role and has big plans for the group!

We have come a long way over the years, and made changes as needed along the way. Our chapter has accomplished much, but there is much more to do! We are working towards our goals and with the support of our families and friends in the community, we will succeed. However, much of what we can accomplish depends on folks like you!

We would love for you to Join our team, our mission, and our network of support There are three types of memberships below and you can choose which better suits your needs.
